The Brampton Bike Hub and Caledon Bike Hub offer the Pedalwise Program, BikeWrx, and the BikeLibrary.
With BikeWrx we mentor folks on fixing and doing maintenance on their bikes. Even if you don’t have a bike, you’re more than welcome to join and watch our mechanics walk folks through repairs. We are offering virtual BikeWrx sessions later this month after the success of the last event.
The second is the Pedalwise program. We pair you with a seasoned cyclist familiar with the safe cycling routes in your part of the city. We are still recruiting mentors for the season and ensuring that we offer the safest program possible. You’ll be hearing more information about mentors in your area or ways to build up your cycling skills virtually in the coming weeks.
The third is the BikeLibrary. For folks who do not have access to bicycles, they can rent a lovingly refurbished one through our BikeLibrary. Individuals who use this program pay a deposit that is equal to the cost of the bike ($150 on average). When the bicycle is returned at the end of the rental period, the deposit will also be returned. If you want to use the program and donate a bike to us, the deposit for the rental bike will be reduced based on the value of the bicycle(s). Since the demand for bikes is so high this year, we need bicycles to ensure we have a consistent supply for community members to use throughout the season.
The Brampton Bike Hub and Caledon Bike Hub is offered in partnership with PCHS and BikeBrampton. It is free thanks to funding provided by the Region of Peel Community Cycling Program.
