DESCRIPTION

Youth Blog Writer

Flexible, Remote Volunteer Opportunity for Youth

March 2021

We are looking for volunteer Youth Blog Writers to join Waterloo Region School Food Gardens (WRSFG), a nonprofit organization in Waterloo ON. As a Youth Blog Writer, you will work with WRSFG staff to write content blog posts for our brand new youth blog launching this spring!

What You’ll Do

Simply put, you’ll work to write blog posts that are 300-1000 words. This position is entirely flexible to suit your schedule. WRSFG staff will make themselves available to assist with brainstorming, writing, editing, and posting the blog entries as needed. You are welcome to work collaboratively with others or independently. As an environmental, garden-based nonprofit, most blog posts will be focused on topics related to those areas, though we encourage our volunteers to share any ideas they have.

What We are Looking For

No prior experience in this type of role is required. The following are required:

- Should currently be a youth (aged 10-18);
- Have strong communication skills, especially written English;
- Have access to a computer (desktop or laptop) and Internet;
- Have the ability to commit to writing at least three blog posts over a six-month period (there is no upper limit to how many you can write!);
- Ideally, you’ll have some interest in gardening, food literacy, and environmental topics.
