East Toronto Food Coalition

The East Toronto Food Coalition (ETFC) in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion, at 9 Dawes Road is a grassroots food security initiative serving the Beaches East-York, Regent Park, Danforth and Leslieville areas. The East Toronto Food Coalition- ETFC first started our initiative in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. Initially we were a group of community members sharing resources to help those in need by delivering food to a small number of families within our local community. The need quickly grew, the word spread of our activities and resources, and we increasingly became organized. With may food bank closures and community members experiencing poverty for the first time, ETFC designed a unique approach in filling a major void within our East-end communities. As of this week, we have proudly fed 2000 families and have 250 ongoing clients (with a daily volunteer run, delivery and pick up system) entirely with in-kind direct donation so far.
