The Riverdale Hub is a social enterprise in Toronto’s east end that houses the Social Gardener Café, Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Centre, Riverdale Gallery, event and work spaces, and a rooftop and rainwater garden, among other environmental initiatives. Role Profile/Impact Statement:
The Volunteer Coordinator of the Food Security Program ensures the successful initial placement and ongoing management of volunteers within all areas of the program in positions. The volunteer roles and programs will be designed to contribute to the collective well-being and learnings of volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator’s work will support improvement in food security in the Gerrard and Coxwell neighbourhood in areas including:
This position provides the opportunity to gain experience managing and working with volunteers, project management and event planning, while developing administrative and communications skills. It also provides the individual with experience volunteering for a community organisation, as well as developing a greater knowledge of food security and urban agriculture.
Hours Needed/Timing During Week/Seasonality:
Efforts are ongoing, with highest commitment being at start of program development; Expected hours are approximately 10 / week
