DESCRIPTION

Volunteers use their own vehicle, provide transportation for clients to medical appointments, grocery shopping and other activities.

• Training and educational opportunities.

Time Commitment:
Flexible scheduling available.
Drivers needed for local and/or long distance drives (i.e. Toronto).
• Weekdays (Monday to Friday) or Weekends.
• Early morning, day time and evening drives available.

Responsibilities:
• Inform your insurance company of your volunteer role as a benevolent driver.
• Confirm travel arrangements with clients.
• Provide confirmation/changes to license and insurance.
• Follow safe driving practices.
• Wear your CCD name badge and display the CCD sign on your rear view mirror.
• Provide minimal assistance to those with mobility issues (no lifting or transferring).
• Collect fees unless otherwise advised by the office.
• Decline any request that are not approved by the office.
• Follow routine practices for Universal precautions.
• Work within the parameters of your defined role with respect to confidentiality.
• Represent Community Care Durham in a friendly, professional manner.
• Report any problems or concerns to a staff member.
• As a representative of CCD transporting clients, vehicle should be kept in good working order and respectable condition (i.e. clean interior).
• Volunteer orientation and training required.
• Attend meetings and training opportunities.
• Be familiar with all Community Care Durham services.
