The 2019 Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF brings together 35,000+ Canadians from coast to coast to raise $4 million to accelerate the pace of type 1 diabetes research. On Sunday June 9th we need the support of over 70 committed volunteers to help make the day a success! We have a variety of roles for both youth and adult volunteers.
-As part of the Registration Crew you will ensure pledge forms are filled out correctly, confirm offline donation are correct and accept cash and/or credit card donations. This role is for volunteers over the age of 18+. If you are a family group or have a volunteer under 18, they can partner with you to hand out the prizes and congratulate fundraisers!!
-Become part of the Refreshment Crew and help us set up the refreshment tent. You will distribute prepackaged snacks and drinks throughout the day, monitor their levels/replenish them as needed and assist food vendors as required. *Please note: In the Refreshment Tent you will be handling prepackaged snacks and drinks - this is not a suitable area for those with food sensitivities and/or food allergies.
KIDS ZONE CREW
-This role will assist in the kid activities space - including over-seeing the bouncy castles, temporary tattoo application, etc.
-Assist with directing participants along the walk route. This role includes encouraging/cheering on the walkers and handing out water and snacks to participants when required.
Become part of the Greeter Crew where you will warmly greet our walkers, ensure they have completed a waiver and direct them to the appropriate registration areas.

• Able to problem-solve and seek support when needed
Overall Time commitment:
• The time commitments for each role vary, and we ask volunteers to be available for the full duration of the stated shift times
• Volunteers are required to sign-in at the beginning of their shift and out at the end of their shift
• This event will happen rain or shine
In addition to supporting an amazing event raising funds to support cutting edge research, volunteers will receive:
• A t-shirt on event day
• A light lunch after your shift
• Confirmation of volunteer hours
