Spontaneous Volunteers - IO Emergency Response Unit Training

DESCRIPTION

The Canadian Red Cross (CRC) is currently seeking volunteers of all ages to participate in an International Operations Emergency Response Unit (ERU) Training exercise between Oct 28 - Nov 6, 2019 in Toronto & Schomberg, ON.
Volunteers will have the unique opportunity to role play various mock scenarios that a field hospital could potentially encounter while fully deployed, and to experience just how Canadian Red Cross Delegates provide assistance to vulnerable people across the world – right from the front line! Volunteers will be asked to role play as patients, local staff and family members and will have a chance to be treated by delegates in a real operational field hospital.

Available Volunteer Shifts

Volunteer Opportunity #1: Airport Greeters
Dates: October 28 & 31; November 1, 2019
Available Shifts: Varied
Description: Liaise with ERU delegates and direct them to awaiting transportation. Greet participants at Pearson airport, communicate with pre-arranged bus driver at YYZ, guide participants to bus, ensure all have arrived, troubleshoot.

Volunteer Opportunity #2: Patient Injects
Dates: November 4, 5 & 6, 2019
Available Shifts: 1) 8:00am-12:00pm; 2) 1:00pm-4:00pm; 3) 6:00pm-11:00pm
Description: Roleplay as injured patients of all types in mock scenarios and get treated by CRC delegates in a fully functioning ERU Field Hospital. Volunteers to play roles, including patients, made-up to simulate being in an accident, 16+ years All welcome, scenes may be frightening as real life accident drama is acted out.
