Remote Volunteer Opportunity

We are looking for a volunteer Research & Outreach Coordinator to join Beautify Hamilton, a new nonprofit organization in Hamilton ON. As the Research & Outreach Coordinator, you will work with Beautify Hamilton volunteers and Board members to research and build relationships with individuals, businesses, and organizations in Hamilton and surrounding areas. There is no experience required for this position; only a willingness to work collaboratively and learn!

Beautify Hamilton’s objective is to clean up neglected areas in Hamilton one garbage bag at a time. We hope that our work can inspire volunteers around our community to join in our efforts towards a cleaner city. As we grow and gain a following, we hope to dive into a variety of avenues that help to beautify Hamilton. From clean parks to murals and community gardens, we hope that our goal can be achieved together, as a community.

What You’ll Do

- Work collaboratively with Board members to identify organizational needs;
- Build a communications strategy for outreach in line with organization’s missions and values;
- Conduct secondary research on Hamilton and surrounding areas;
- Research local organizations, businesses, and individuals, identifying opportunities for partnerships;
- Participate in emailing and/or calling identified potential partnerships, representing Beautify Hamilton in a friendly and professional way;
- Work with Google Drive to keep track of and share developments;
- Attend monthly or bi-monthly meetings with key members to discuss developments and opportunities;
- Potential to grow within the role and move to other areas of the organization as needed.

What We are Looking For

No prior experience in this type of role is required. The following are required:

- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong English written and verbal communication abilities
- Comfortable communicating via email and telephone
- Strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of Hamilton and area, especially local businesses and organizations, is an asset but not required (this is where the research work comes in!)
- Interest in working with and supporting our mission to make Hamilton a cleaner and more appealing place to live
- Ability to commit 2 hours weekly and attend 1-hour monthly or bi-monthly meetings;
- Personal computer to conduct duties and a reliable Internet connection;
- Basic knowledge of Zoom or a willingness to learn in order to participate in meetings.
