Repair Cafe Volunteer

    Newmarket, ON

In 2017, the Regional Municipality of York (York Region) and York Region Makers began offering Repair Cafés; this initiative was developed in support of the Region’s SM4RT Living Plan, a long-term waste management plan that focuses on waste reduction.

Repair Cafes help keep broken items from being thrown away prematurely, while nurturing a community hub of activity with volunteer fixers and community members working together.

A typical Repair Café requires a four hour commitment from volunteers, refreshments and lunch are provided! Repair Cafe events are held throughout York Region; visit york.ca/repaircafe for a list of upcoming events.
