To assist Health & Wellness Program staff with the weekly/bi-weekly program activities and workshops/presentations to residents. Setting up and preparation of activity room and materials. Motivating and encouraging client to take part in the activities.
Initial Volunteer orientation to agency and program; On-the-job shadowing/scheduled training with an experienced volunteer or staff. Coordinator provides on-going support, answer questions and explain policies. Volunteer will be trained to carry out activation programs and working with seniors. An opportunity to become acquainted and socialize with the program participants; The knowledge of playing a vital role in the success of the community services; Gain knowledge of the frail elderly; An invitation to the Annual Volunteer Recognition Event; Letter of Reference (after completion or required duration).
English, Mandarin (will be an asset)
Close to Bus and Streetcar stop. Free parking also available.
Minimum hours per week
2 hours on Thursdays from 10:00am to 12:00noon
Responsible and dependable with regards to time commitment; Sensitive to client needs; Respectful of client wishes; Flexible in nature; Possess warmth and empathy; Ability to work with diverse populations and cultural groups; Willingness to tolerate client values and lifestyle.
Building is accessible with washrooms and parking also available.
