DESCRIPTION

WoodGreen is one of the largest social service agencies in Toronto. A founding United Way of Toronto member agency, WoodGreen has grown to span 25 locations and serves 37,000 people each year. Our Community Connections Program is currently seeking experienced professionals from various areas of the Healthcare sector to assist newcomers in adapting, settling and integrating into Canadian Society and the workplace. We currently have a need for Pharmacist Professional Mentors.

Purpose: Provide guidance and support to help Internationally Trained Professionals understand current industry trends, get familiar with Canadian workplace culture and build professional networks. As a Professional Mentor you will: * Have 2 to 3 years work experience in your profession * Provide a better understanding of the Canadian workplace culture and values to your mentee * Share valuable information and insights into your industry and profession * Help Internationally Trained Professionals build their networks Benefits to becoming a Mentor include: * Exercising leadership and coaching skills * Increasing your awareness of diversity in your daily routine or in the workplace * Enhancing your knowledge of values in multiple cultures * Gaining a better insight into your profession from an international perspective * Helping to build a welcoming society * Reinforcing your ability to nurture success in others

Task requirements 

Responsibilities:

* Assist mentees to develop their potential job and career path

* Provide insights into the industry and share experience with mentee

* Provide information about professional licensing, credential and educational requirements if applicable and help develop short and long term goals

* Provide guidance on how the mentee can better position themselves for success with a focus on communication skills and business etiquette

* Act as coach to listen, to motivate and to build networks if possible

 

Mentorship Commitment * A total of 18 hours is required over a 3 month period
