DESCRIPTION

 

Celebrating its 80th year, WoodGreen is one of the largest social service agencies in Toronto. A founding United Way of Toronto member agency, WoodGreen has grown to span 36 locations and serves 37,000 people each year.

Our Community Connections program supports newcomers to adapt, settle and integrate into Canadian society and the workplace through various types of activities. Activities include: Professional Mentorship, English Conversation Circles (ECC), Group Activities, Networking Events and Seminars. 

Currently, we are seeking Information Technology Professionals - Data Analyst, Business Analyst and Network Administrators to participate as Volunteer Mentors in our program.

Purpose:

  • To provide guidance, support and insight into your industry
  • Share best practices of the workplace culture, labour market trends and job search techniques  
  • Act as a coach to listen, motivate and build networks if possible

What are the requirements?

  • Minimum  2 consecutive years of professional experience in Canada
  • Experience and awareness of Canadian workplace culture
  • Good English communication skills, friendly, good listener, empathetic, non-judgmental
  • Patience and open to diversity

 

What is the commitment?

  • 1- 2 hours a week 
  • On-going communication with program staff
  • Subject to vulnerable sector police screening

 

When and Where will you volunteer?

  •  Meetings can be  conducted in person, over the phone, Skype or by email

Please note:  All volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation Session and subject to a Police Vulnerable Sector Screening which is paid for by the program.
