The Riverdale Hub is a social enterprise in Toronto’s east end that houses the Social Gardener Café, Riverdale Immigrant Women’s Centre, Riverdale Gallery, event and work spaces, and a rooftop and rainwater garden, among other environmental initiatives. We offer an innovative green work environment to progressive organizations and individuals where we provide opportunities and training to immigrant, refugee and marginalized women and youth – creating bridge between minority groups and mainstream communities. We work within the values of inclusiveness, sustainability and social justice.
Utilizing many of the resources above, we are in the process of developing a comprehensive Food Security Program which aims to improve the social, economic, environmental and health inequalities associated with food insecurity.
Role Profile/Impact Statement:
As funding is key to the success of the Food Security Program, the Grant Writer ensures that the Food Security Program initiatives can be achieved by providing financial stability for the program. This work will support improvement in food security, job development, youth employment, environmental sustainability and urban farming in the Gerrard and Coxwell neighbourhood.
This position provides the opportunity to gain experience writing grants and understanding the grant application process, as well as volunteering for a community organisation.
Hours Needed/Timing During Week/Seasonality:
Efforts are ongoing, with highest commitment being at start of program development; Expected hours are approximately 5 / week (hours will vary with grant deadlines)
