Event Volunteer - Toronto Marathon

Program Overview:

The Heart and Stroke Foundation, a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living, and advocacy.

We are looking for 25-30 enthusiastic volunteers to help with one of Toronto's largest event of the year -Toronto Marathon. We rely on the support of our dedicated volunteers to deliver an experience. You will be stationed at the Heart & Stroke Aid Station helping runners with general safety and hydration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hand out gel packs and/or water to runners as they come by the Aid Station
  • Assist in keeping the area around station clean using aids provided.
  • Assist with set up and take down of display and materials at station, if necessary


As a volunteer in this role, you will need the following qualities:

  • Enthusiastic, friendly &  punctual
  • Exceptional customer service and communication
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and focused.
  • Capable of following verbal and written instructions with limited supervision
  • Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time


Time Commitment:

  • Shift is from 7:30 am (TTC service starts at 8:30 am) to 11:00 am
