FIGMENT is a wonderful explosion of creative energy - a free, annual celebration of participatory art and culture where everything is possible. For one weekend each summer, it transforms a Toronto park into a large-scale collaborative artwork ? and then it?s gone. FIGMENT is a free, non-profit event, that does not accept corporate sponsorships.

FIGMENT 2019 is happening Saturday and Sunday, August 17 & 18th (10:00am - 8:00pm) in Dufferin Grove Park (at Bloor and Dufferin)

Want to help plan and create this amazing event? We are seeking:


The Curator is a member of the Core Team, and an essential senior leader who coordinates and oversees the art at FIGMENT. We are looking for someone who has a passion for free, public art and skills in communications and leadership.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review artists? proposals to ensure they are appropriate for the festival
  • Research and connect with opportunities to reach out to new artists
  • Attend Core Team meetings (every 2 weeks until mid-June, and then weekly until late August)
  • Keep Core Team informed about art and about curatorial matters
  • Liaise with artists to help solve problems and access resources, as necessary
  • Develop relationships with artists and volunteers
  • Keep the Volunteer Coordinator informed about artists? volunteer needs
  • Propose honoraria allocations and finalize them with the festival Producers
  • Propose placement of artworks and finalize with the festival Producers
  • Ensure that artists meet all requirements e.g. set up and tear down times, Leave No Trace, etc
  • Ensure that all honoraria are paid
  • Attend the event on August 17 & 18
  • A positive, friendly and responsible attitude   
  • Careful attention to detail and 100% reliability a must  
  • An interest in interactive, public art and getting involved with a free, family-friendly and participatory art event
