COVID-19 notes:
Families Canada (FC) is looking for Volunteer Communications Officers to work remotely 5-10 hours per week. Chosen volunteers will support our Communications team in coordinating, creating and editing content for social media, monthly newsletters, eblasts, webinars, e-learning modules, YouTube videos, infographics, and other FC communications materials. Volunteers will be assigned to projects that fit their skill sets and interests.

As a Volunteer Communications Officer, you will expand your portfolio, gain opportunities to apply your skills to new projects, refine your knowledge of communications and digital transformation, gain experience in the not-for-profit sector, and contribute to strengthening Canada’s family support sector.
FC is a small team of hardworking individuals; all team members are encouraged to share creative ideas that contribute to the organization’s success.
Key Requirements:
Enrolled in, or graduated from, an appliable university program
Excellent English writing and editing skills
Excellent professional communications skills
A strong respect for deadlines
Strong problem-solving skills and a creative mindset
Ability to work in a team and individually
Competency with Microsoft Office
Ability to work from home, have own laptop, microphone, and webcam
Professional experience with ONE OR MORE of the following:
-Photoshop
-Illustrator
-InDesign
-Canva
-Hootsuite
-Social media analytics (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube)
-Social media content creation
-MailChimp
-Survey Monkey
-Zoom (for presentation purposes)
-WordPress
-Shopify
-E-learning platforms, such as Talent LMS
-Audio editing software
-Video editing software
-Podcasts
Assets:
- Formal education in communications, graphic design, marketing, or video production
- Bilingualism is a strong asset
- Past experience with non-profit organizations, family support organizations, or associations
