CIBC Run for the Cure in Windsor - Volunteer Committee Positions

DESCRIPTION

The 2018 CIBC Run for the Cure will take place on Sunday, September 30th, 2018

Planning and organizing the Run takes time, passion and creative thinking. With support from volunteers and the organization’s staff, you will be a part of something truly extraordinary in your community. Although this is a national event, local success depends on volunteers like you. With your community insight, you will raise awareness, encourage participation, and drive fundraising results.

Time Commitment:

• Monthly committee meetings from now to July and biweekly in August and September

• Weekly tasks averaging 2-5 hours per week depending your role and the time of year

• Attendance and leadership role at pre-Run events/opportunities

• In person availability from September 28th-30th

The ideal committee member has:

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• The ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Exceptional communication skills

• Access to a computer with Internet, and willingness to use new software programs

• Passion for the breast cancer cause

Available Positions:

Communications Lead – you are responsible for local media relations and promotions for the CIBC Run for the Cure. Working alongside your committee and Volunteer Run Director, you will be generating excitement in your community via media and social media using the PR Toolkit and social media kit provided. Identifying and preparing local spokespeople will be part of the role and serving as the primary media contact on Run day. In addition to your role with media/social media there may be some distribution of marking materials required.

Community Outreach Coordinator - you will identify opportunities to promote the CIBC Run for the Cure in your community (festivals and events, speaking engagements, parades). You will encourage participation in the Run by connecting with the community and sharing the importance of the cause and impact of funds raised. Along with the support of your Volunteer Run Directors and Communications Lead you will lead the committee in the execution of pre-Run promotional events, ensuring logistics and volunteer resources are managed in a timely fashion throughout the summer and fall.

Committee Liaison - you will be charged with keeping the committee organized. You will book meeting space, build meeting agendas, keep minutes and follow-up on task lists (critical paths). You will be the committee budget holder, which means you will oversee submission of expense claims and receipts, and consult with Run Staff to update your site’s budget each month. You will also create and maintain your committee list and record committee hours to be submitted to staff.
