Assistant Event Coordinator

Position Summary:

Heritage Skills Development Centre (HSDC) is seeking a dedicated individual with a strong background in coordinating large-scale community events to provide leadership in the planning, coordination, and evaluation of HSDC?s festival event. 


  • Create the festival fundraising goals and solicit funds to meet these goals.
  • Work with HSDC's management team, organizing fundraising committees to plan and raise funds for the event
  • Market the event and promote sponsorships, including to the media, corporations and interest groups
  • Plan and coordinate entertainment as well as vendors
  • Organize the registration of participants, prepare programs and promotional materials, and publicize events
  • Meet with the organizing committees to plan the scope and format of the event
  • Market the event and promote sponsorship, including to the media

  • Coordinate all event related activities
  • Supervise, support and manage event volunteers
  • Prepare reports and make recommendations for future events

Essential Skills/Qualifications: 

  • Excellent planning and organization skills combined with good time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced work environment and should be able to deliver results, even when required to work under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with a diverse range of people like clients, vendors, suppliers, staff members, etc.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Problem solving skills, creative, experimental with lot of positive attitude and energy
  • Experience and background in event coordination of large scale events
  • Project Management and planning skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate well with a diverse population
  • Positive and enthusiastic leadership
