DESCRIPTION

Purpose:

• To provide guidance, support and information related to the Canadian workplace culture to Internationally Trained Professionals.

As a Mentor you will:

• Provide insights into your industry and share experiences with mentee

• Act as a coach by listening, motivating and assist in identifying opportunities in building networks

• Share information about professional licensing, accreditation and educational requirements

• Enhancing your leadership and coaching skills

• Building effective communication styles and improving your public speaking

• Gaining a better insight into your profession from an international perspective

• Helping to build a welcoming society

Mentorship Requirements:

• At least 3 consecutive years of work experience in your profession

• Subject to vulnerable sector police screening

• Experience and awareness of Canadian workplace culture

• Good English communication skills, friendly, good listener, empathetic, non-judgmental

• Patience and willingness to coach and open to new cultures

Mentorship Commitment:

• A total of up to 24 hours within a 4 month period is required

• Meetings can be conducted in person, over the phone, video chat, or by email

• On-going communication with program staff
