Adult Day Program Support

Description

Volunteers are needed to assist with providing social and recreational activities for clients.

Time Commitment:
Volunteer hours are weekdays between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. We are looking for volunteers who wish to dedicate their time for a minimum of 2 hours, once a week, preferably.

Responsibilities:
• Duties may include leading active games such as golf, bocce ball, Frisbee, ring toss etc., or exercise such as yoga and tai chi.
• Assisting with programming such as bingo, music, spiritual, educational (jeopardy, travelogues), creative/crafts, emotional, cognitive (trivia) and/ or entertainment.
• Participate and/ or facilitate group activities or one-on-one activities with a client
• Helping hands program to assist members with fine motor skills.
• Housekeeping duties such as cleaning iPads, sanitizing door handles, laundry and wiping and sanitizing tabletops.
• Office administrative duties such as shredding, updating client information, answering
the phone.
• Work within your defined role with respect to confidentiality.
• Represent Community Care Durham in a friendly, professional manner.
• Attend meetings and training opportunities.

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Sensitive to people with needs related to aging, physical ability and/or mental health.
• Able to work independently and as part of our team.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a helpful, pleasant manner.
