Are you interested in science journalism, astronomy, or space exploration? Do you enjoy podcasts and radio shows? We're looking for volunteers to assist with the space-themed podcast and radio show "The Star Spot". The Star Spot features interviews with leaders in astronomy, space sciences and engineering, and space exploration, as well as exciting and timely news from similar fields. The show has listeners internationally and is looking to expand its production team with passionate, dedicated volunteers who are eager to create engaging educational content.
The Star Spot is looking for volunteers to help with our news writing team. The news team is responsible for writing the segment "Current in Space" for the podcast, which airs every other week. Successful applicants to this position will be responsible gathering news and content from various sources including online scientific news sites, academic papers, online articles, or other sources and interpreting and distilling them down into interesting and engaging segments that will be recorded in studio and edited into the finished podcast. While not a requirement writers will be asked to attend recording sessions at Ryerson University organized by the News Producer and will also be asked to record their own segments or allow their segments to be recorded by others in studio. Some data interpretation will be required. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic individuals for our team. Interest and knowledge in space and space exploration is not required but will be an asset.
Due to the nature of the position much of it can be performed remotely with the exception of the in studio sessions.
