Are you interested in science journalism, astronomy, or space exploration? Do you enjoy podcasts and radio shows? We're looking for volunteers to assist with the space-themed podcast and radio show "The Star Spot". The Star Spot is a non-profit production which features interviews with leaders in astronomy, space sciences and engineering, and space exploration, as well as exciting and timely news from similar fields. The show has listeners internationally and is looking to expand its production team with passionate, dedicated volunteers who are eager to create engaging educational content. We are looking for a News Producer to organize and manage a smaller team of writers and assist with the creation of the segment "Current in Space" with the potential for other different segments (film reviews, opinion pieces, etc) in the future. The news producer will be responsible for coordinating the schedule for the news team to ensure the writing and recording of the content in a timely matter for the creation of the finished podcast. Keeping the production and writing teams on schedule is key so great organization and team skills will be an asset. The news producer will also have to work out scheduling and logistics of recording in our studio at Ryerson University. The news producer will also be expected to write as needed so interest in space and astronomy is an asset.
Experience in journalism and production is an asset.
The position can be performed off site as needed but a commitment of 4-6 hours in studio every other week to supervise the recording of content will be required.
