Part-Time Web Developer

Are you excited by an opportunity to stengthen your web development skills? Looking to contribute to a growing non-profit that assists women and men after having a child? Do you have a child or know someone who does and would like to ensure that they have access to resources that they can trust? This opportunity provides all that and more! 

You will be working exclusively with our current graphic designer and editorial content manager in efforts to increase brand awareness improve the function and layout of the site.  If you are creative, self-motivated and are interested in making a difference we would love to hear from you!

As a Web Developer you will be responsible for following:

  •  Contributing creative ideas to make the site more engaging and user friendly
  •  Improve the design, function and layout of our site
  •  Assisting with incorporating social media access to the site and open up for comments
  •  Designing new promotional materials, creating templates, preparing presentation layouts and social media branding.
  •  Overseeing all aspects of the website and marketing to ensure brand consistency
  •  Using WordPress to execute the new design of the site 

Skills and Attributes we are looking for include:

  •  Has completed a College Diploma/University Degree (or in progress)
  •  Strong WordPress application documentation, and design
  •  Coding and testing experience an asset
  •  Experience adapting and extending WordPress to meet changing website requirements.
  •  Able to create and modify application code to support new functionality an asset
  •  Strong expertise with CSS3, and Wordpress, experience with PHP and Javascript an asset
  •  Advanced knowledge in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  •  Experience with creating illustrations and video illustrations is an asset
  •  Experience with SEO (Search Engine Optimization, SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and Google Analytics concepts and techniques.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication
  •  Able to work within deadlines and to work independently while contributing to cross functional teams
  •  Owns a laptop with Adobe Suite would be an asset

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated person to assist with our web development efforts. You will be working alongside our executive committee with direct exposure to all aspects of a developing non-profit organization. This is a part-time unpaid position requiring 6-10 hours weekly (working remotely), including a weekly remote one hour meeting with our executive team and correspondence with your immediate team. This is a three-month position with opportunity to continue within the organization.
