This winter Toronto's most vulnerable residents, many of them homeless, will find a warm welcome, a hearty breakfast, and a few hours respite from the cold at St John the Compassionate Mission. As the homeless shelters across the city close at 6am, many people will have nowhere else to go.
URGENT PEOPLE ARE NEEDED¦ January 15, 2018 - St John's, is the only drop-in open 5am-9am Tuesday through Saturday.
As Breakfast Host, you will assist with set-up, clean-up, serving and some kitchen prep for service of approximately 100 plates per day, totaling more than 6,000 plates which St. John's will serve this winter but most importantly, you will help to create a welcoming environment of hospitality by greeting people, learning names, sitting at table and sharing breakfast and perhaps a word or two with others.
You will be asked to commit to at least one regular 4-hour shift per week.
You will work under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator.
